Catapult leads CAF performance monitoring workshop in Johannesburg

Catapult staff were recently in Johannesburg to deliver a performance monitoring workshop to representatives from all 54 member associations of the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF).

In November, Catapult and CAF reached an agreement to supply all 54 CAF associations with PLAYERTEK athlete monitoring technology. The recent workshop in South Africa was designed to provide training on the system and further support round the capture and implementation of performance data.

Speaking at the workshop, Raul Neven Chipenda, CAF Director of Football Development, commented on the benefits that Catapult’s technology can bring to the member associations.

“Through this technology, coaches and trainers can now get live and accurate information about their players’ performances which will make training sessions and performance monitoring easier and more accurate.

“Such technology affords coaches to make more informed decisions when it comes to resting or substituting players based on the amount of work they have put in during training or matches. This is highly important for health monitoring as well as the overall development of football.”

Catapult is excited to be working with CAF as the federation continues to develop a strong performance infrastructure for all of its member associations. Supporting technical staff across all 54 nations, Catapult is committed to helping CAF realise its objectives in the areas of athlete monitoring and performance technology.
