Signaling System 7 Testing Application (SS7 Testing Application)
Signaling System 7 (SS7) is a standard based signaling protocol, first used in the traditional voice telephony network.
The Catapult SS7 testing application gives you advanced test capabilities for research and development labs and service providers. Its functions include regression, integration and system testing, along with field deployment. With its combination of ready-to-use applications, graphically programmable applications and extensive protocol support, the Catapult systems test complex signaling protocols.

Catapult’s SS7 offering provides the tools needed by network equipment manufacturers and service providers for a number of tests.
Stress Testing Network Elements:
- Simulates network elements to conduct complete load capacity testing and monitoring, including channelized, unchannelized, SS7 over ATM and SS7 over SIGTRAN
- Expandable by adding computing power, physical interfaces to any of the Catapult family of scalable platforms
- Traffic generation from one to 32 links, per simulated device.
- Network Performance Load Test (NPLT) generates heavy traffic loads across STPs under test to assess STP performance.
Functional Testing:
- SS7 traffic monitoring for both channelized and unchannelized
- Full protocol stack testing including lower layers
- Signal transfer point (STP), Signal control point (SCP) and Service Switching Point (SSP) performance testing
- Level 2 conformance test package supports Q.781 MTP Level 2 and TA-1004 conformance testing
- Level 3 Conformance testing supports Q.782 MTP Level 3 and NOF 905
- NPLT traffic reports indicate the number of message signal units (MSUs) transmitted and received with delay analysis.
