Platforms Overview

Catapult offers two mainline test systems, the DCT2000® and the MGTS®. These systems share a range of hardware platforms, a line of Catapult-designed network interface cards, and a test library of over 900 protocols and protocol variants. Unmatched in flexibility and scalability, Catapult systems meet the needs for testing different stages in the product life cycle, different test environments, and different network technologies.

The m500 test platform delivers unprecedented load test performance by using an industry standard mesh backplane that allows the physical test interface to be driven by one or many mesh computing unit cards. The CompactPCI mesh backplane is the heart of the m500 architecture and provides up to ten times the performance of traditional PCI bus test platforms. The mesh backplane supports full bandwidth of 765 Gb/sec.

The p200 and p400 platforms utilize the PCI bus architecture and are ideal for functional, conformance and interoperability testing.  A range of form factors, from rackmount to desktop to transportable, meet a wide range of test environment needs.

The DCT2000 system and MGTS system are differentiated by their graphic user interfaces. The DCT2000 interface is called "CATTgen" while the MGTS interface is called "PASM". Both development tools allow the user to graphically create call flows, and complex, multi-protocol test applications. The highest level of flexibility comes from the Catapult multi-user development environments that enable 3G, VoIP, SS7 and other telecom tests may be run simultaneously.

CATTgen is used to graphically create desired call flows. The resulting test sequence is composed of a series of pre-defined blocks where variables and databases are customized according to the needs of each application.

MGTS users can create complex, multi-protocol test sequences with the Protocol Adaptable State Machine (PASM) and a powerful set of development tools. PASM is based on the finite state machine concept which executes test cases from user defined protocol sequences.
