TESTING APPLICATIONS

DCT2000 WiMAX Enhanced with Release 1.1.0

Catapult is active in the WiMAX forum in a number of ways including helping to define testing standards. Catapult's DCT2000/WMX test system now fully supports conformance testing to the recently approved WiMAX Forum Network Architecture – Release 1.1.0 specification. The DCT2000 can now be used to test voice quality, authentication for the WiMAX network, Data Path Control and Mobile Station (MS) state change.

The DCT2000/WMX provides protocol support for functional, load, and end-to-end testing of Mobile WiMAX.

In the example above (figure 1), the DCT2000/WMX is being used to test the base station by initiating test functions as a MS simulator or triggering calls on actual WiMAX devices such as laptops and cell phones. It is also simulating an ASN Gateway over the R6 interface.

The DCT2000 in this scenario supports:

  • High load testing
  • Verification of correct or negative conditions
  • Handover scenarios from simulated base stations
  • Security – Authentication Relay and Key Reception confirmation
  • Client MIP and Proxy MIP correct operation
  • Data path setup and teardown
  • QoS DL and UL setup and verification
  • Service Flow Management
  • Radio Resource and Context function correct operation

Please contact your Catapult Representative for more information on DCT2000/WMX and support in developing a business case for your WiMAX testing needs.
